Concert Programs Assistant

Wage: Base: $14/hour; Maximum: $14.50/hour; Work-Study required 

Supervisor: Business Manager

Functions: Create accurate and attractive concert and recital programs using InDesign and Macintosh computer systems.

Hours: Expected to complete 4-8 hours of work each week as scheduled by the Concert Business Manager. Initial job training will occur during the first few shifts. Shifts will be assigned quarterly during business hours, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in shifts is allowed but specific deadlines must be met.

Responsibilities:
Public Contact: Medium level of contact with faculty, staff, and students, primarily over email
Monetary Responsibilities: None
Cleaning, Physical Labor, and Maintenance:

  1. Keeping office and back office areas neat
  2. Carrying boxes of programs
  3. Filing and file maintenance

Specific Duties:

  1. Communicate with faculty, ensemble directors, and students to compile accurate concert program information, meeting deadlines
  2. Format concert and recital program information, preparing print-ready material
  3. Proofread, spell-check, and edit program documents
  4. Maintain accurate production progress records in collaboration with other staff
  5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  2. Accuracy in proofreading and editing is critical
  3. Ability to perform under deadline pressure
  4. Must be efficient and able to work with little supervision
  5. Knowledge of Macintosh computer systems; familiarity with Adobe InDesign software preferred
  6. Basic knowledge of music terminology and nuances helpful; interest in music helpful
