Jennifer Higdon, winner of the 2018 Michael Ludwig Nemmers Prize in Music Composition, reflects on her first Bienen School residency. The Bienen School of Music welcomed Higdon Oct.

The Bienen School’s Quartet-in-Residence, the Dover Quartet, performs Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 80 in Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall.

The Bienen School’s Quartet-in-Residence, the Dover Quartet, performs Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet No. 23 in F Minor, Op. 20, No. 5 in Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall. 

Grammy-winning choral ensemble The Crossing joins the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble for performances of Gabriel Jackson’s Rigwreck and David Shaprio’s Sumptuous Planet (14:02). Donald Nally conducts. 

The Dover Quartet, Bienen School Quartet-in-Residence, performs Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 4 in C Minor, Op. 18, No. 4, in Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall.

Emanuel Ax, winner of the Bienen School’s 2016 Jean Gimbel Lane Prize in Piano Performance, leads a piano master class featuring Bienen students EunAe Lee, Thomas Ridgway, and Dong-wan Ha.

Bienen School visiting artist Chase Chase performs an excerpt from a work in progress, Pan, by Northwestern alumnus Marcos Balter. The piece is scored for acting-singing flutist and mass community participation.
