Audition & Program Requirements

Bachelor of Music: Clarinet

Prescreening required; must be video recording.

For Prescreening:

Note: All sonatas by Brahms will not be accepted.

  • #13 from Rose 40 Studies for Clarinet and étude #5 or #11 from Rose 32 Études for Clarinet 
  • F Major and G Major three-octave scales: slurred, tongued, and legato tongued
  • Mozart, Clarinet Concerto KV 622, first movement exposition || NOTE: Faculty strongly prefer that applicants submit this prescreening element with pre-recorded or live accompaniment. Accompaniment tracks are available via NomadPlay and YouTube. 
  • One prepared piece of the applicant’s choice

    • Puccini, Tosca, Act 3 solo 
    • Kodály, Dances of Galánta, 2nd solo
    • Stravinsky, The Firebird, entire Variations movement
    • Mendelssohn, A Midsummer's Night Dream, scherzo 
    • One additional excerpt of the applicant's choice
