Northwestern Music Academy offers lessons and classes in three 11-week quarters of the Academy year (Fall, Winter and Spring) plus a summer session. Open enrollment happens year-round, and new students are accepted if space is available.
New students interested in private lessons or group classes at the Academy should fill out the Interest Form. You will be contacted by the respective coordinator of your instrument group to set up a placement interview/assessment.

Continuing Academy students do not need to submit a Summer Registration Form. Summer enrollment is coordinated directly with your teacher, and instructions were emailed separately.
Newly enrolled students who have already completed their assessment and received teacher placement should use these Registration Forms.
Students may enroll in 2-, 4-, 6-, or 8-week lesson blocks between June 15 – September 20, 2026. Summer lessons do not need to be scheduled consecutively and are coordinated directly with your teacher.
Your enrollment is finalized once the registration form and tuition payment are received.

Summer Quarter runs June 15 – September 20, 2026.
Students may register for lessons in 2-, 4-, 6-, or 8-week blocks. Lessons do not need to be scheduled consecutively, though continued study throughout the summer is encouraged whenever possible.
All summer lessons must be completed by September 20 and cannot carry over into the Fall Quarter. Music Academy tuition is non-refundable.

Northwestern Discount Update
Effective Summer 2026, Northwestern University discontinued the Music Academy tuition benefit. As a result, Northwestern affiliates (faculty, staff, students and their spouses) are no longer eligible for discounted Music Academy tuition.
We are grateful to the many Northwestern families who have been part of the Music Academy community and look forward to continuing to serve the Northwestern and surrounding communities through high-quality music instruction.
Summer 2 (Late Summer) Registration
A second summer registration period (Summer 2) is available for students wishing to add lessons in late July, August, or early September.
Please note: The Summer 2 registration process has been updated for 2026.
Students should contact their teacher to finalize their Summer 2 lesson schedule by Friday, July 31, 2026. Tuition bills will be sent the first week of August.
Summer 2 lessons must be completed by September 20, 2026.
All tuition and fees are payable to the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music.
If tuition is not received by the applicable payment deadline, lessons may be suspended until payment is received.
Students are financially responsible for payment of all lessons or classes provided or scheduled.
Students with a history of chronic late payment (two or more quarters of late payments) may be ineligible to register for future quarters.
