Mahler - Symphony No. 9

June 4, 2022

Maestro Victor Yampolsky leads the Symphony Orchestra in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in one of the final concerts of his 38 years at the Bienen School of Music. Mahler’s Ninth is often interpreted as his farewell to the world. Sweeping in scope, the symphony references Beethoven, Strauss, and Mahler’s own music, concluding with a deeply poignant finale.

(00:21) Andante comodo
(27:32) Im Tempo eines gemächlichen Ländlers. Etwas täppisch und sehr derb
(44:03) Rondo—Burleske: Allegro assai. Sehr trotzig
(58:22) Adagio. Sehr langsam und noch zurückhaltend
