The Jazz Orchestra welcomes guest drummer Ari Hoenig for their first concert of the spring quarter. Dubbed a “postbop daredevil” (Time Out New York) for whom “rhythm is a contact sport” (New York Times), Hoenig has performed with the Kenny Werner Trio, the Chris Potter Underground, and the Joshua Redman Elastic Band, as well as bands led by Wayne Krantz, Mike Stern, Richard Bona, and Pat Martino. He has led the Ari Hoenig Quartet since 2002 and is a faculty member at New York University and the New School for Social Research.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
