Countdown to 100—The Music of John Coltrane

Monday, May 4, 2026 at 8:00pm CDT

McClintock Choral and Recital Room

Darius Hampton and Joe Clark, conductors

Saxophonist, bandleader, and composer John Coltrane is among the most influential figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. He began his career working in the bebop and hard bop styles, eventually helping to pioneer the use of modes and becoming a leader in the development of free jazz. As Coltrane’s September 23 centennial anniversary approaches, the Darius Hampton and Joe Clark ensembles pay tribute to his legacy.
