"...Mr. Russell possesses a talent of extraordinary dimension.”
—The New York Times
David Russell is firmly established in the elite echelon of classical guitarists regularly appearing at prestigious venues around the world. Early in his career, he was a top prizewinner in the Andrés Segovia, José Ramírez, and Francisco Tárrega competitions. Recording exclusively with Telarc International, Russell has produced an extensive discography, including the 2005 Grammy-winning Aire Latino. The “Amigos de la Guitarra,” the oldest guitar society in Spain, named him an honorary member in 2009. Russell's numerous other recognitions and awards include the Medal of Honor of the Conservatory of the Balearics, an Honorary Doctorate in Music from the University of Arizona, and his 2018 induction into the Guitar Foundation of America’s Hall of Fame. Russell is in high demand as both a performer and a teacher of master classes; he was made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 1997, and a Visiting Professor in 2010.
