John Thorne, Jennifer Gunn, and Alyce Johnson, flute, piccolo, and alto flute; Kay Kim, piano

Bienen School faculty members John Thorne, Jennifer Gunn, and Alyce Johnson come together for an afternoon of music for flute, piccolo, alto flute, and piano in various combinations. Thorne performs regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Philharmonic and has appeared on Chicago’s Bach Week Festival and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW series. Gunn is the CSO’s piccoloist and has performed with Bach Week, Dempster Street Pro Musica, Music of the Baroque, and the Civitas Ensemble. Johnson is a member of the Grant Park Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, and Chicago Philharmonic.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
