Director of orchestras. In addition to his Northwestern duties, Victor Yampolsky also serves as music director of the Peninsula Music Festival, honorary director of the Scotia Festival of Music, and music director Emeritus and Principal Guest Conductor of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. He was formerly assistant concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and principal second violin of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Yampolsky has appeared as a guest conductor throughout the United States and abroad, and has recorded for the Pyramid and Kiwi-Pacific labels. He received the degree Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Nebraska at Omaha as well as an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, and is a member of the Continuum Committee of the League of American Orchestras.
