The School of Music offers for undergraduates the Bachelor of Music and the Bachelor of Arts in Music degrees. Prospective students must fulfill the application requirements and may choose one of two applications options: Early Decision (binding) and Regular Decision. (Note: Applicants from countries other than the United States may apply for fall-quarter entrance only.) 

Auditions are required for all undergraduate applicants regardless of their proposed major. Auditions are held on campus and throughout the United States during January and February. See our Auditions page for more information. Please be advised that faculty members in all instrument areas may NOT be hearing auditions on every published on-campus audition date. Additionally, space may be limited on particular audition dates. Consequently, applicants should not schedule travel until it has been confirmed by the Northwestern University School of Music Admission Office that there is space on the requested date. Auditions must be requested online.

Transfer students for fall entry must apply for admission by May 1. It is recommended that auditions for these students be scheduled in January and February. Transfer students for winter entry must submit an application by November 1 and audition prior to that date through the Undergraduate Office of Admission and Financial Aid (musiclife@northwestern.edu)
