EVANSTON--Dean Toni-Marie Montgomery today announced that double bassist Andrew Raciti has been appointed to the Bienen School of Music Faculty. He will officially join the school in fall 2011, holding the position concurrently with his appointment as assistant principal double bass with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
Milwaukee-born Andrew Raciti joined the MSO in 2006. Prior to this appointment, he spent nearly five seasons with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the last two as associate principal. He has also performed with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Detroit and Melbourne Symphonies, and is heard regularly with the new music ensemble Present Music. Upcoming summer 2011 festival appearances include principal bass of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Teton Music Festival, where he has performed orchestral and chamber music since 2007, and concerts in Milwaukee with the Fine Arts Quartet.
Raciti received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Music degree from Rice University.
