Coordinator of keyboard skills and nonmajor piano for the Bienen School, pianist Karen Kan-Walsh has performed in Russia, China, and the Chicago area. She gives regular presentations on keyboard skills and group piano as an active member of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. Her recent performances have focused on two-piano literature with colleague Annie Hsiao, a longtime faculty member of the Music Academy.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
