John Thorne, Jennifer Gunn, and Alyce Johnson, flute, piccolo, and alto flute; Kay Kim, piano

Bienen faculty John Thorne, Jennifer Gunn, and Alyce Johnson come together for an evening of music for flute, piccolo, alto flute, and piano in various combinations. John Thorne performs regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Philharmonic, and has appeared on Chicago’s Bach Week Festival and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW series. Jennifer Gunn is piccolo of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest with Bach Week, Dempster Street Pro Musica, Music of the Baroque, and the Civitas Ensemble. Alyce Johnson is a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Grant Park Symphony, Music of the Baroque, and the Chicago Philharmonic.

Tickets are $8 for the general public and $5 for students with valid ID.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
