Ensemble Dal Niente

Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 7:30pm CDT

Galvin Recital Hall

The Chicago Tribune declares, “Dal Niente is a model of what contemporary music needs to reach and engage a wider public.” The 22-member Chicago-based collective presents and performs new music in ways that redefine the listening experience and advance the art form. Recent projects include an East Coast tour of German music, a collaboration with the indie-rock band Deerhoof and composer Marcos Balter, and works by trombonist, improviser, and composer George Lewis. In 2012 Ensemble Dal Niente became the first-ever ensemble recipient of the Kranichstein Music Prize at the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music. This season the group performs at the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, Seattle’s University of Washington, the University of Maryland, and throughout the Chicago area. In this program the ensemble performs new works by Bienen School composition students.
