Study of all skills necessary for the well-trained pianist in the professional
music world. Members of the piano faculty offer private instruction and weekly
master classes in solo performance, collaborative performance, and chamber
music. Students attend classes in sight-reading, keyboard technique, jazz
piano, organ, music theory, and conducting. In addition to the final piano
concert, the gala finale concert during the last week of the institute offers
a performing opportunity for one student chosen to represent the piano program.

Private Instruction
As part of the required curriculum, students attend one-hour private lessons
weekly with our performance faculty. During this time students primarily address
technique, solo literature, and performance practice. Additionally, chamber
and ensemble literature may be coached. Private lessons are part of the standard
tuition charges and do not pose an additional expense.
