Affords the aspiring young artist a challenging performance-oriented musical
experience through large ensemble, chamber music, and solo repertoire. Distinguished
members of the Northwestern string faculty and guest artists offer private
instruction, master classes, and chamber music coaching. Classes include
music history, music theory, and conducting. Students participate in performances
with the chamber, string, and symphony orchestras.

Private Instruction
As part of the required curriculum, students attend one-hour private lessons
weekly with our performance faculty. During this time students primarily address
technique, solo literature, and performance practice. Additionally, chamber
and ensemble literature may be coached. Private lessons are part of the standard
tuition charges and do not pose an additional expense.
