Maud Hickey Receives NAA
Excellence in Teaching Award

EVANSTON—Maud Hickey, associate professor of music education, has been awarded a 2009 National Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award.  These awards, granted by the Northwestern University Alumni Association, honor faculty across campus for their outstanding contributions in the classroom.  Hickey will received the award at a luncheon ceremony during the NAA’s annual Alumni Leadership Symposium on Friday, September 11, 2009.

Hickey is chair of the department of music studies at the Bienen School and is an instrumental music specialist.  Her articles have appeared in Music Educators Journal, General Music Today, Quarterly Journal of Music Teaching and Learning, and Research Studies in Music Education. She is also the editorial chair of Music Educators Journal, an editorial board member for Journal for Technology in Music Learning, and the developer of  a customized music composition software package.
