School of Music Faculty Featured on
Grammy-Nominated CD
School of Music faculty members Michael Henoch, oboe, and Gail
Williams, horn, are featured on a recording by the Chicago Chamber
Musicians that has been nominated for a Grammy Award. The
CD, Chamber Music for Winds and Strings by Mozart (Summit
DCD-461), is one of five recordings nominated in the Best Chamber
Music Performance category. Henoch performs in the Quartet
for Oboe, Violin, Viola, and Violoncello in F Major, K. 370,
and Williams in the Quintet for Violin, Two Violas, Violoncello
and Horn in E-flat Major, K. 407. The category winner will
be announced on February 11, 2007 during the 49th annual Grammy
Awards ceremonies at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Founded in 1986, the Chicago Chamber Musicians (CCM) is a society
of professional musicians and music devotees dedicated to excellence
in the study and performance of chamber music. Established by
four artists, CCM now has an ensemble of fifteen, including five
Northwestern School of Music Faculty members: Barbara Butler,
trumpet, Charles Geyer, trumpet, Michael Henoch, oboe, Michael
Mulcahy, trombone, and Gail Williams, horn. The ensemble
has performed throughout the United States as well as in Tokyo,
Salzburg, Berlin, and Giverny, France.
