Charles Geyer

Co-chair, Department of Music Performance. Soloist with Music of the Baroque, Chicago Chamber Musicians, and Grand Teton Music Festival. Former member, Eastman Brass, Eastman Virtuosi, Chicago Brass Quintet, and Chicago Symphony, Grant Park Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestras. Solo appearances with major orchestras and festivals. Recordings and international broadcasts with Chicago and Houston Symphony Orchestras as well as Eastman Brass, Music of the Baroque, and Chicago Chamber Musicians. Has given recitals and master classes worldwide. Former faculty member, American Conservatory of Music, Rice University, and Eastman School of Music. Studied with Herbert Stoskopf, Adolph Herseth, and Vincent Cichowicz.

Recitals at Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, Kennedy Center. Premiered works by Bolcom, Curtis-Smith, Hough, Liebermann, Rorem, Thomas, and Wild. Founder, Las Vegas Piano Institute. Piano division chair, Eastern Music Festival. Former faculty member, University of North Texas, Interlochen Arts Academy. Studied with Byron Janis, Lazar Berman, and Jerome Lowenthal at the Juilliard School, Nelita True at Eastman School of Music, and Robert Shannon at Oberlin College. Robert Gjerdingen

Coordinator, music theory and cognition program. Author of numerous books, articles, and reviews in the fields of music theory, music perception, and 18th-century musical style. Serves on the editorial boards of Music Theory Spectrum and the Journal of Music Theory. Former editor, Music Perception. Has served on the executive board of the Society for Music Theory and the editorial board of the Journal of the American Musicological Society. Richard Graef

Assistant principal flute, Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1968-present). Specialist in baroque flutes and baroque repertoire. Flutist with Chicago Pro Musica, which received a 1985 Grammy Award for best new classical artists. Studies at Oberlin Conservatory and the Mozarteum Academy of Music, Salzburg.

Nancy Gustafson

Soprano. Has collaborated with such artists as Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavorotti, and Joan Sutherland, and conductors Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Bernard Haitink, Sir Andrew Davis, and Sir Georg Solti. Has appeared in Europe’s major opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, and the Paris Opera, and in the US has sung major roles at the Metropolitan, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston Grand, and Chicago Lyric Operas. Honors include the title of Kammersaengerin, bestowed by Austria, and an honorary doctorate from Mount Holyoke College. Recordings highlights include Wagner’s Das Rheingold with Christoph von Dohnányi; Symphony No. 2 by Mahler, conducted by Zubin Mehta; and La bohème under Kent Nagano.  Native of Evanston, IL.
