Bring your music to the community with our Bienen Student Community Engagement Program.
In partnership with the Student Advisory Board (SAB), the Community Engagement Program aims to provide community networking, performance, and teaching outlets beyond campus for eligible students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Perform with your chamber group or as a soloist — it’s great practice for an upcoming recital! Instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome. Sites include the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 after-school program, the Mather Pavilion, the People’s Music School, and more.

Are you a music education or performance major who wants more teaching experience? Become a teacher for UpBeat! We give vocal and instrumental lessons every Saturday morning/afternoon at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1928 Darrow Avenue, Evanston (within walking distance of campus).

This after-school orchestra program is based on the El Sistema Venezuelan approach to music education. We give lessons Monday–Friday, 2:50–4:50 p.m., at Hibbard Elementary School, 3244 West Ainslie Street, Albany Park, Chicago. It’s only a 20-minute drive from campus and easy to get to via public transportation.
