Bienen School jazz students perform holiday charts and arrangements by Wynton Marsalis. The concert features guest trumpeter Marcus Printup, a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since 1993. Billboard Magazine hails him as "jazz's best kept secret," while All About Jazz declares, "Printup's full sound has a vocal quality to it, as no lyrics are needed." Printup was featured onscreen and in the soundtrack for the film Playing by Heart and has recorded several albums as a bandleader. His latest album, London Lullaby, was released in January of 2009.

University Chorale: 70th Annual Christmas Concert - Handel's Messiah
Description:
Robert A. Harris, conductor; members of Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra
The most famous oratorio ever written, Messiah was largely composed over a three-week period in 1741 and was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742. The work is a meditation on the idea of the Messiah, and thus some of the text is derived from the Old (rather than the New) Testament, including the Psalms. Later parts of the oratorio then offer episodes dealing with Christ's birth, suffering, death, and resurrection.
