The 24-voice Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble (BCE) sings a highly specialized, virtuosic repertoire for advanced choral singers, concentrating on music of the 21st century and drawing relationships to its polyphonic roots in early music, primarily that of the Renaissance.
Through the Chamber Music Program, students participate in weekly coachings with their assigned master teacher and also participate in weekly master class settings with guest artists and our own Bienen School faculty.
The Chamber Orchestra performs standard literature of the 18th and 19th centuries as well as contemporary works written expressly for chamber orchestra. The individual musical responsibility and preparation required in a small ensemble are emphasized.
The Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME) presents exciting concerts of wide-ranging contemporary works. A one-on-a-part ensemble of approximately 20 players, CME trains students to take on this challenging repertoire while thriving in a large chamber ensemble setting.
The Symphonic Band comprises a roster of 65 music majors and performs works for large band or wind orchestra.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the smallest and most select of university wind ensembles that emphasizes performance of major original works for band.
The Symphony Orchestra, the Bienen School of Music's premier orchestra, performs major literature from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
University Chorale is a large mixed-voice ensemble comprised of graduate and undergraduate students, devoted to performing a diverse selection of works.
