Background
DMus, Northwestern University
A conductor, harpsichordist, and organist, Stephen Alltop is director of music for Alice Millar Chapel, a harpsichord instructor, and chamber music coordinator. He also serves as music director for the Cheyenne and Elmhurst Symphony Orchestras and the Apollo Chorus. Under his baton, the Elmhurst Symphony won the 2001 Community Orchestra of the Year award. He is the associate conductor for the Peninsula Music Festival. He received the 1996 Programming of the Year Award from the Illinois Council of Orchestras. He has guest conducted across the United States and in Italy. He has performed as a harpsichordist and organist with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Baroque Ensemble, Omaha Symphony, and Symphony II. His recordings can be found on on the Albany, Cedille and American Gramaphone labels.
