Background

Charles Pikler has been a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1978 and was appointed principal violist in 1986 by Sir George Solti.  He has  appeared as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, and is active as a chamber musician.  Also the concertmaster of the Oak Park Symphony, Pikler has recorded for Cedille Records. His teachers have included Bronislaw Gimpel and Roman Totenberg.
