Audition Requirements

Please download the Audition Booklet and read it carefully, noting specific requirements and deadlines for your audition. To request that a copy of the Audition Booklet be mailed to you, please complete our information request form.

You will need to bring your Musical Background Information Sheet with you to your audition.  Download the appropriate PDF for your degree program below.  Those that are required to submit prescreening recordings should send this form with the prescreening recording.

Prescreening is required for the following areas:

2010 Campus Audition Dates

Auditions for Bachelor and Master of Music programs may be done on campus, at a regional audition site, or by recording (DVD or CD only). Please download the Audition Booklet and read it carefully, noting specific requirements and deadlines for your audition.

Audition dates are assigned to applicants upon completion of all required application materials. Undergraduates wishing to request a specific campus audition day or regional audition location should do so in writing by emailing the Office of Music Admission at musiclife@northwestern.edu. You should send this email from your application email address. Please be sure to include your full name and telephone number in this email, in addition to the degree and program for which you are applying. Graduate applicants may make these requests through the Graduate Application. 

Please be advised that faculty members in all instrument areas may not be hearing auditions on every published campus audition date. Additionally, space may be limited on particular audition dates. The date you have requested is not guaranteed, so please wait to make any travel plans until you have received written confirmation of your audition location, day, and time, approximately four weeks prior to your audition.

Regional Auditions - 2010

NOTE: Percussion and Jazz auditions can not be done at regional audition locations.
